Ver\u00f3nica has undergone numerous surgeries to manage her disability. Swimming is her best form of rehabilitation, and she spends countless hours in the pool\u2014not just to strengthen her body. Her Florida town is home to Mermaid Cove, a kitschy underwater attraction where professional mermaids perform in giant tanks, and Ver\u00f3nica dreams of auditioning.
