The ACWW is focused on creating a thriving literary center showcasing &#8220;Larry McMurtry&#8217;s epic life as a cowboy, novelist, screenwriter, rare book collector and artist for the ages.&#8221; In addition, the nonprofit plans to make the author&#8217;s collection of 175,000 rare books publicly accessible.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif;\">AUSTIN<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdhousebooksatx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Birdhouse Books and Gifts<\/a><\/strong> held a grand opening weekend kickoff on September 27. The celebration included a Rainbow ribbon cutting with Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, treats, local artists, and more. \u201cA queer- woman- veteran-owned independent book and gifts store\u201d serving the Brentwood area, Birdhouse Books and Gifts plans to host author events, story times, and a robust middle-grade fiction section.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstlightaustin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">First Light Books<\/a><\/strong> held a Bookshop Block Party on September 14 to celebrate their first year in business with live music and several author readings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman,Times,serif;\">Thais Perkins, founder of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/reveriebooks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Reverie Books<\/a><\/strong>, was named a 2024 Fall Fellow by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shelf-awareness.com\/ct\/x\/pjJscVPelbkI6a5hK093GA~k1yJoKXv-hs8x6mUDJTxptJd27xBcg\" target=\"_blank\">Books Across Borders<\/a>, a nonprofit that provides booksellers with travel fellowships to international book fairs. Located at 112 Royal Street, the store hopes to be a hub for book lovers in Salado. The new store, in a beautifully restored 1908 building just of the historic town square, features new releases, bestsellers, children\u2019s books, games, and more.
