2023 Boerne Book Festival<\/p>\n

The Boerne Book Festival<\/strong><\/a> takes place Saturday, October 7, on Boerne\u2019s beautiful Hill Country Mile with a celebration of all things literary, including author discussion panels, childrens\u2019 activities, and more. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As always, the festival focuses on Texas and its rich history. The Writers\u2019 League of Texas kicks off the morning with a discussion on Writing about the Lone Star State that features Stacey Swann, James Wade, & Kimberly Garza. Bookending the festival is a special tribute to the writing of Larry McMurtry, with literary luminaries Stephen Harrigan, Douglas Swanson, Sherry Kafka Wagner, and WK \u201cKip\u201d Stratton. This panel, sponsored by Bending Branch Winery, will be moderated by George Getschow, editor of the upcoming book of essays on McMurtry, Pastures of an Empty Page<\/em>. Getshow is also the director of the Archer City Writers\u2019 Workshops. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to these panels, Conservationist Davis Hillis will be on hand to discuss Armadillos to Ziziphus: A Naturalist in the Texas Hill Country<\/em>; Cindy Bonner, and Jo-Ann Power will talk about their experiences with women and war; and our local historians\u2019 panel features moderator Kathryn Adam-Hurst, along with Dan Gelo, Hoppy Hopkins, Bryden Moon, and Chris Wickham. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New and different this year is our headlining panel featuring popular author Stuart Gibbs. Gibbs\u202fis the\u202fNew York Times<\/em>\u202fbestselling author of several middle grade series including Charlie Thorne<\/em>, FunJungle<\/em>, Moon Base Alpha<\/em>, Once Upon a Tim,<\/em> and Spy School<\/em>. He has written screenplays, worked on a variety of animated films, developed TV shows, been a newspaper columnist,\u202fand researched capybaras (the world\u2019s largest rodents). No matter your age, Gibbs\u2019 panel is a guaranteed good time! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
