In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Richland Hills author and librarian <\/span>Pamela Skjolsvik<\/span><\/a><\/span> started a Facebook group called <\/span>2020 Quarantine Book Club<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to support debut authors having to cancel book events and tours because of the virus. This group was started on Saturday, March 15. Today, it has 900+ members from across the U.S., including many authors.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The first selection for the 2020 Quarantine Book Club is <\/span>The Mountains Sing<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/span> by <\/span>Nguy\u1ec5n Phan Qu\u1ebf Mai<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong> There will be a live video from Qu\u1ebf Mai on April 8 at 7 p.m. CST. Qu\u1ebf Mai will answer questions and participate in the group discussion.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Qu\u1ebf Mai is the author of eleven books of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction in Vietnamese and English. She is the translator of seven books, published in Viet Nam and the United States.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe response to this group has been incredible,\u201d Skjolsvik said. \u201cI am an author and know how important book events are\u2013especially to debut authors. If we are all having to stay home, we might as well read a fabulous book and discuss it with other members!\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n There is no charge to join.
