Two Texas authors honored on new Bluebonnet Award Master List<\/p>\n

Students from central Texas announced the Texas Library Association\u2019s (TLA) 2020-2021 Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) Master List at the Texas Book Festival on Saturday, October 26. The Texas Bluebonnet Award<\/strong><\/a> Master List is one of the most prestigious children\u2019s literature lists in the country.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Two Texas authors were honored on the 2020-21 list: They Call Me G\u00fcero: A Border Kid\u2019s Poems<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by David Bowles (Cinco Puntos Press, 2018) and What Do You Do With a Voice Like That? The Story of Extraordinary Congresswoman Barbara Jordan <\/a><\/em><\/strong>by Chris Barton, illustrated by Ekua Holmes (Beach Lane Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Books, 2018).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

$\"\"$ Students, parents, teachers, librarians, booksellers, and authors eagerly await the yearly release. \u201cSince the first Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List was created, the excitement about this children\u2019s choice award has grown beyond the borders of Texas,\u201d said Jacqui Bridges-Sheppherd, TBA coordinator. \u201cOur primary goals are to introduce children to a variety of quality books, develop critical reading skills, and honor and encourage imaginative authors. The committee considers more than five hundred books in order to select five outstanding books of various genres for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
