Texas books and authors on the Carnegie Medal longlist<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A total of forty-nine books (twenty-four fiction, twenty-five nonfiction) have been selected for the longlist for the <\/span><\/span>2020 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong> in Fiction and Nonfiction. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Texas books and authors on this year\u2019s lists include Michael Parker for <\/span><\/span>Prairie Fever<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/strong> (Read our review <\/span><\/span>here<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/strong>.) in fiction, and Douglas Brinkley for <\/span><\/span>American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/strong>, and Holly George-Warren for <\/span><\/span>Janis: Her Life and Music<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/a><\/strong> (this week\u2019s Lone Star Review<\/a> title) in nonfiction. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Six finalists will be announced on November 4, and two medal winners will be announced at the Reference and User Services Association\u2019s Book and Media Awards event at the American Library Association <\/span><\/span>Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits in Philadelphia<\/span><\/span><\/a> on Sunday, January 26.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Carnegie Medal winners will each receive $5,000. The six finalists and two winners will be honored during a celebratory event, sponsored by <\/span><\/span>NoveList<\/span><\/span><\/a>, at ALA\u2019s <\/span><\/span>2020 Annual Conference<\/span><\/span><\/a> in Chicago.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
