I\u2019ve enjoyed watching it and I thought, \u2018What about West Texas?\u2019 We don\u2019t have that many gardens as they have in Austin,\u201d Parks said.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">However, Parks said he knew of at least three strong, active writers\u2019 organizations. \u201cSo I thought &#8230; that would be a good topic &#8230; to interview a different writer every week, so I &#8230; pursued it from there and went to the Marie Hall Foundation for possible funding,\u201d Parks said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">The foundation was interested in the show. Parks applied and was funded for $20,000. \u201cIt\u2019s a good strong start that will pay for thirteen weekly episodes, which is sort of a season in television. We\u2019re hoping to get funding for thirteen more,\u201d Parks said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u200bThe executive director of <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.basinpbs.org\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color:#3498db\">Basin PBS television<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">, Laura Wolf, has viewed the pilot episode and committed to broadcasting the entire series on weekends. Swann said the fourth book in her Phantoms series, <em>Stevie-Girl and the Phantom of Forever<\/em>, was released this week by 5 Prince Books. She said it\u2019s a \u201cclean, teen read.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Other interviews Parks has lined up include songwriter Harry Nutter; poet Loretta Diane Walker; non-fiction and fiction author Glen Aaron; science fiction writer Joshua Simpson; writer, journalist, editor, and publisher Mark McDonald; self-help counseling writer Stephanie Moses; and Copeland, an activist and advocate of the arts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:14px\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">When the process for the show started, Basin PBS didn\u2019t have a studio. They got one, but it was under construction, so Parks said he wrote a letter to the owner of the Hotel Settles and asked him if they could do all the filming there and give the owner credit at the end.
