You can view our full list of Texas-based bookstores at Texas Bookstores | Lone Star Literary Life, but here are some new additions to that list that are either newly-opened or new-to-us bookstores we have recently discovered.
THE BOOK CYCLE
The Book Cycle is a 501(c)(3) certified, non-profit in Houston, Texas, creating a community that shares their love of reading for free.
All their inventory is donated, and their events are sponsored entirely by the community and by donations. At their store location, people can donate unwanted books (great for a spring-cleanout!), take home new books, find other book lovers, and donate to the cause.
Store hours are Thursdays from 9-3 and Saturdays from 9-5, and they are located at 405 Velasco Street, Houston, TX 77003.
CACTUS FLOWER BOOKERY
The Cactus Flower Bookery in El Paso sells second-hand books and literary gifts. They host events and book clubs and recently launched a line of literary teas featuring Edgar Allen Poe’s Black Tea, Emily Dickenson’s Jasmine Tea, Mary Shelley’s Green Tea, Jane Austen’s Black Tea, Beatrix Potter’s Organic Herbal Tea and many more!

CIBOLO CHICKS BOOKSTORE
Cibolo Chicks, a new independent bookstore located just outside the greater San Antonio area, is open. They sell new and used books as well as bookish merchandise, and even better, their name is inspired by their book club.
Their retail store is currently located at 9330 Corporate Dr Ste 702, Selma, Texas.
Join them on Saturday, June 11th from 11-3 for some fun grand opening events.
FULL CUP
The Full Cup is a locally owned, neighborhood bookstore and coffee shop, that has been selling books and serving coffee for almost 10 years in Weatherford. They host book clubs and events and have been featured on the list of top things to do in Weatherford.
They are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm
SOA CO.
SOA Co. is an independent, mobile store, dedicated to educating and empowering individuals and they have been open for a little over a year. Their goals are to sell books that represent the voices of marginalized communities while emphasizing Black authors.
SOA Co. partners with local businesses and community markets across the greater Houston area to set up a short-term pop-up. We also host book signings, virtual events, collaborate with book clubs, and partner with schools.
