Lone Star Literary Life announces Michelle Newby Lancaster (aka Texas Book Lover) as managing editor.

Lone Star Literary Life is delighted to announce that Michelle Newby Lancaster (aka Texas Book Lover) is joining our full-time staff as managing editor beginning tomorrow, April 1, 2019.
Long-time readers will know Michelle from our Go! Calendar, which she compiles from some two hundred different sources each week. Or you may know her from her Lone Star editorial book reviews, which she’s written as a contributing editor since the founding of LSLL in February 2015.
Michelle is a voting member of the National Book Critics Circle, a member of the Writers’ League of Texas, and a member of PEN American. In addition, she has been the editor of The Texas Spur newspaper for the last year.
Michelle has been a reviewer for Kirkus Indie and Foreword Reviews, served on the Permian Basin Writers’ Workshop advisory committee, appeared on a panel for the Writers’ League of Texas at Books in the Basin, and she has been a regular moderator for the Texas Book Festival in Austin. Her reviews appear in Foreword Reviews, Pleiades, Rain Taxi, World Literature Today, High Country News, South85 Journal, The Review Review, Concho River Review, Monkeybicycle, Mosaic Literary Magazine, Atticus Review, The Rumpus, Bookslut, PANK Magazine, and The Collagist. Michelle recently began offering freelance editing services.
Michelle is excited about her new position as managing editor, and she shares owner and publisher Kristine Hall’s vision for the future of LSLL. “Lone Star Lit aspires to be the go-to resource for anything and everything bookish in Texas,” she said. “Especially with the accelerating demise of books coverage in newspapers, Lone Star Lit provides a valuable service to the Texas bookish community. We plan to grow that service with a long-range view. I can’t wait to get started!”
